Mission

Puppetology was created to help teachers, especially in schools without psychological support, reach the unseen emotions children often keep inside. Many children carry unspoken pain, and through puppets, they find a safe way to express what words cannot. Teachers learn not only to listen, but to see, to understand, and to guide. In doing so, Puppetology helps identify early emotional challenges and nurture resilience before wounds become walls.

An Introduction to Puppet Therapy

Disclaimer: Puppetology is a fun activity that helps children express emotions and share stories. While it can assist teachers and parents in understanding a child’s feelings, it is not a substitute for professional psychological help. If you have concerns about a child’s mental health, please consult a licensed professional.

Puppet therapy is a fun and creative way to help children express their emotions and tell their stories. By using puppets, children can communicate feelings they might not yet have the words for, making it easier to process their experiences. This playful approach also spreads awareness about children's mental health, helping teachers and trusted adults detect any emotional or well-being challenges a child might be facing.

Puppetology makes this process exciting and accessible! With customizable puppets, stages, and story prompts, the kit encourages creativity while allowing adults to better understand and support children’s emotional needs.

Puppet therapy helps children develop emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills. It’s a powerful tool for emotional growth, mental health awareness, and fostering connection. Let’s use the magic of puppets to help children express themselves and raise awareness about their mental well-being!

Stage

The Safe Space: The stage is transformed into a white canvas of emotional freedom. It's the designated safe space where a child's unspoken feelings and stories—both joyful and painful—can be visually externalized and processed through the puppet's performance, setting the foundation for open expression.

Hand Puppets

The Emotional Surrogate: These puppets act as emotional surrogates. They are the characters that teachers and students collaboratively design to embody and articulate complex, often "unseen" emotions. Creating them fosters a safe distance for expressing feelings that words alone cannot convey.

Student's Imagination

Unlocking Inner Worlds: This process is about transforming hidden pain, fears, and hopes into tangible narrative. It is the vital act of using imagination to weave a story, allowing the child to articulate and begin to understand their internal emotional landscape, thus nurturing resilience and self-awareness.

Tarit Amatayakul (Matt)

Founder and President

Matt Tarit Amatayakul is a senior at the International School Bangkok. He is a founder of Puppetology, a puppet therapy kit that helps children express their thoughts and emotions through storytelling and empowers teachers to recognize early signs of mental well-being challenges, opening doors to active support. Puppetology is the first initiative of its kind in Thailand, offering an innovative tool for early mental health support through storytelling and play.

At 12, he co-founded Project Infinite, refurbishing computers for underprivileged children to access online learning. Seeing that access alone wasn’t enough, Matt  founded Digital Bridge to equip, educate, and empower youth with digital skills and opportunities to bridge the digital divide.
